I hope that everyone has had a wonderful break and that this holiday season has been a time spent with family, friends and in creating joyful memories. Winter is in full swing, and we anticipate that we will all be navigating wintry roads for the next few months. Please allow plenty of travel time to/from the schools. Please have your children take the school bus as often as possible as this is the safest form of transportation - especially during construction.

    December 2022 Superintendent Newsletter

Welcome to December of the 22/23 school year. Our first semester is rapidly coming to a close. We are in full “winter” mode having navigated several snowfalls and dropping temperatures this month. During the winter in Park City, we work diligently to keep our schools open insofar as is possible. Please know that there may be times when a delayed start may be necessary. If that is the case, students will be picked up from their bus stop at exactly 2 hours later than the usual time. The ending of the day remains the same as normal operations.

Our local Park City School District has a robust safety and security plan as well as an active committee including local police, sheriff and emergency responders that provide an opportunity for communication and the sharing of proven strategies that prioritize student safety. This group meets several times each year, and we learn and act on recommendations: including specific communication devices, visitor management systems, and tabletop activity.

The 2021-2022 school year will go down in history as perhaps one of our most challenging, unusual and eventful.  We began the year with masks and renewed uncertainty, but just a few months ago we could finally see our students’ faces again.  One of our teachers remarked that it was surprising to see just how young the students appeared, but it was evident that they had certainly grown in many ways.
