I hope that everyone has had a wonderful break and that this holiday season has been a time spent with family, friends and in creating joyful memories.  Winter is in full swing, and we anticipate that we will all be navigating wintry roads for the next few months. Please allow plenty of travel time to/from the schools.  Please have your children take the school bus as often as possible as this is the safest form of transportation - especially during construction. 

 

In Park City School District, we work diligently to maintain operations and to keep schools open throughout the winter months. In the event of delay or closure, that information will be posted to the pcschools.us website by 6:15 AM along with email and text messaging to families.  

 

We have said goodbye to 2022 and are looking ahead to 2023. In schools, we are so fortunate to have two “New Years” each year with the start of school in August and now with the change to the new year. This is a time for us to look forward in a positive and constructive way. We’re looking forward to a successful second half of the school year. 

 

We have faced many challenges together as a school district and there will undoubtedly be many challenges ahead for us in the coming year, but we came out stronger when we worked together as a collaborative community.  To see more of that collaborative spirit in 2023 is my sincere hope for our school district.  When we work to foster a sense of togetherness and community throughout our school district whose mission is “to inspire and support all students equitably to achieve their academic and social potential,” our community’s children benefit from this positive role modeling and positive relationship. 

 

With everything we have gone through together during the pandemic, we’ve learned there are always silver linings that can be found in any crisis.  Any turbulence that we encounter in the coming year must also be looked at for the opportunities for something positive that will surely be presented to us as well. Together, we have bounced back academically with students demonstrating strong assessment results. Socially and emotionally, we find that support is as critical now as it has ever been. Individual and organizational resilience will remain forefront in our efforts. 

 

When we listen, we learn. And when we learn, we can lead through any obstacle. 

 

2023 is now upon us and with it comes an opportunity to lead the PCSD that we all love so much into the future with pride, passion, and purpose.  As we are navigating through an era marked by misinformation, incivility, and intolerance, we must join together to lead the way to a more civil society. 

 

Together, we must demonstrate throughout our community that our schools and our school district are a wonderful place to work, engage, and thrive.  We see marked evidence of this success each day.  It is due to the incredible work of 695 staff, educators, and administrators that our students are provided a learning environment where students are safe, supported, engaged, challenged and healthy.  As a community, our collective work is to ensure that these principles hold true for our children, and for one another, each and every day.  

 

Let’s make 2023 our best year yet,

Espero que todos hayan tenido un descanso maravilloso y que esta temporada festiva haya sido un tiempo con la familia, los amigos y la creación de recuerdos alegres. El invierno está en pleno apogeo y anticipamos que todos navegaremos por caminos invernales durante los próximos meses. Permite suficiente tiempo de viaje hacia y desde las escuelas. Haga que sus hijos tomen el autobús escolar con la mayor frecuencia posible, ya que es la forma de transporte más segura, especialmente durante la construcción. 

 

En el Distrito Escolar de Park City, trabajamos diligentemente para mantener las operaciones y las escuelas abiertas durante los meses de invierno. En caso de retraso o cierre, esa información se publicará en el sitio web pcschools.us a las 6:15 a. m. junto con correos electrónicos y mensajes de texto para las familias.  

 

Nos hemos despedido del 2022 y miramos hacia el 2023. En las escuelas, somos muy afortunados de tener dos "Años Nuevos" cada año con el comienzo de clases en agosto y ahora con el cambio al nuevo año. Este es un momento para que miremos hacia adelante de una manera positiva y constructiva. Esperamos tener una exitosa segunda mitad del año escolar. 

 

Hemos enfrentado muchos desafíos juntos como distrito escolar y, sin duda, habrá muchos desafíos por delante para nosotros en el próximo año, pero salimos más fuertes cuando trabajamos juntos como una comunidad colaborativa. Ver más de ese espíritu de colaboración en 2023 es mi sincera esperanza para nuestro distrito escolar. Cuando trabajamos para fomentar un sentido de unión y comunidad en todo nuestro distrito escolar cuya misión es “inspirar y apoyar a todos los estudiantes de manera equitativa para lograr su potencial académico y social”, los niños de nuestra comunidad se benefician de este modelo de conducta positivo y esta relación positiva. 

 

Con todo lo que hemos atravesado juntos durante la pandemia, hemos aprendido que siempre hay aspectos positivos que se pueden encontrar en cualquier crisis. Cualquier turbulencia que encontremos en el próximo año también debe ser analizada en busca de oportunidades para algo positivo que seguramente también se nos presentará. Juntos, nos hemos recuperado académicamente con estudiantes que demuestran sólidos resultados en las evaluaciones. Social y emocionalmente, encontramos que el apoyo es tan crítico ahora como lo ha sido siempre. La resiliencia individual y organizacional permanecerá a la vanguardia de nuestros esfuerzos. 

 

Cuando escuchamos, aprendemos. Y cuando aprendemos, podemos liderar a través de cualquier obstáculo. 

 

2023 está ahora sobre nosotros y con él viene la oportunidad de liderar el PCSD que todos amamos hacia el futuro con orgullo, pasión y propósito. Mientras navegamos por una era marcada por la desinformación, la falta de civismo y la intolerancia, debemos unirnos para liderar el camino hacia una sociedad más civil. 

 

Juntos, debemos demostrar a toda nuestra comunidad que nuestras escuelas y nuestro distrito escolar son un lugar maravilloso para trabajar, participar y prosperar. Vemos marcada evidencia de este éxito cada día. Es gracias al increíble trabajo de 695 miembros del personal, educadores y administradores que nuestros estudiantes reciben un ambiente de aprendizaje donde los estudiantes están seguros, apoyados, comprometidos, desafiados y saludables. Como comunidad, nuestro trabajo colectivo es garantizar que estos principios sean válidos para nuestros niños y para los demás, todos los días.  

 

Hagamos de 2023 nuestro mejor año hasta ahora,
