21/22 School Year — It’s A Wrap

The 2021-2022 school year will go down in history as perhaps one of our most challenging, unusual and eventful.  We began the year with masks and renewed uncertainty, but just a few months ago we could finally see our students’ faces again.  One of our teachers remarked that it was surprising to see just how young the students appeared, but it was evident that they had certainly grown in many ways.

As a school district, we accomplished a great deal this year with many academic, music, art and athletic successes.  We had the pleasure of conferring the diplomas to the Class of 2022, and the level of maturity and accolades of these students was impressive.  All 419 graduates, their families and their teachers should be proud, and we are looking forward to hearing all about their next steps and future successes.

As we enter the summer, please know that the school district continues operations with Community Education based summer school through July 23, the launch of building projects at Ecker Hill Middle School, Park City High School, Jeremy Ranch and McPolin Elementary Schools.  You’ll see fencing and demolition throughout the summer months and construction the next two school years.  Internal secondary realignment task force teams begin their work throughout the next school year in preparation for a 6-8 middle school and comprehensive 9-12 high school experience.

In looking back at these past two successful school years, the Park City School District Board of Education, Administration, Educators and Staff did some great work to keep the schools open and running through COVID and now we can return our focus to core priority issues, and I’m pleased to do so with our strong team, families, and community at large.  Throughout the pandemic, the Academic Team bolstered efforts in the roll out of the Instructional Framework and next year begins our ‘Ascent’ in implementing the updated evaluation system, reviewing the English Language Arts curriculum according to USBE standards, and ensuring that we build action strategies in support of the overall Vision and Mission of the Park City School District.

Special congratulations to each of our secondary schools for achieving updated accreditation and a third designation as a national “schools to watch” for Ecker Hill Middle School. Nationally, Park City School District is recognized for its commitment to continuous improvement and its ongoing efforts to close attainment gaps across student groups.

Thank you to all of our students for another tremendous year and for continuing to demonstrate the strength, spirit and love of learning that we admire.  Congratulations to the Class of 2022 for leading us with your passion, resilience and kindness.  I know you will go on to do great things, and we remain your biggest supporters.

Enjoy these remaining weeks of summer 2022!
