• Emergency Information

Student safety is one of our primary concerns here at Jeremy Ranch Elementary School. We have been fortunate to work with the Park City Fire Service District in organizing our emergency preparedness plan, and regularly practice the procedures for all types of emergency situations, including fires, earthquakes, toxic spills, and school violence. Additionally, we will hold a reunification drill in the spring, which provides an opportunity to practice how we would quickly and safely reunite students with their families in the event of an emergency.

Our school’s safety committee meets with the Park City Fire Department and the Summit County Sheriff’s Department regularly. During the past several years, they have helped to educate our staff in emergency readiness through their Incident Management System, which forms the base of our emergency action plan. This plan pre-designates the responsibilities and duties of those persons holding key positions within the command structure. The system has helped to reduce confusion by knowing who is in charge, providing guidance on large and small-scale emergencies, and providing opportunities to work with community law enforcement and other public agencies.

Parents are important partners in our emergency planning. It is critical that we have up-to-date contact information for all families in case of an emergency or illness. If you move or change your phone number, be sure to let us know so that your child’s information can be updated. When you are visiting our school, please sign in and out at the front desk and obtain a visitor’s badge. These precautions help us to monitor who is in our building, as well as ensure your own safety in the event of an emergency. Please note the emergency procedure information and evacuation maps that are posted in each classroom.

In the event of a serious emergency requiring the transport of students to a safer environment, we have two alternative sites. Our first evacuation site is the LDS church building located behind the school. If this location was deemed unsafe, our students would be transported to the Eccles Center next to Park City High School. If such an event were to occur, information would be announced by Park City TV (Cable Channel 17 or Channel 8 UHF) at (435) 649-0045, or KPCW Park City Radio at FM 91.9 at (435) 649-9004. Tune in to these sources for information about snow days as well. Additionally, we are working with our PTO to compile a Jeremy Ranch Elementary School phone tree.

Your child’s safety is something that we take very seriously at Jeremy Ranch Elementary School. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions about our emergency planning procedures, please don’t hesitate to call us at (435) 645-5670.
