Park City High School's production ‘Newsies’ received ten nominations

Park City, Utah – This year, 65 schools participated in the Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards, competing with 70 shows that were adjudicated. Park City High School's production of Newsies received a total of ten nominations.

Park City High School Senior JT O'Reilly earned a nomination for Best Actor, while 8th grader Payton Bullet earned a nomination for Best Cameo. In addition, Park City was nominated for Best Ensemble, Best Choreography, and Best Director. The show's technical aspects were also celebrated, with nominations for Best Scenic Design, Best Light Design, Best Orchestra, and Best Technical Crew.

However, the biggest news of all is that ‘Newsies’ earned a nomination for Best Musical. This recognition comes with an invitation for Park City High School to perform on the Eccles Stage in Salt Lake City for the Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards show on May 13, 2023. 

According to Krischelle Hansen, PCHS and TMJH theatre director, This is a remarkable achievement for Park City High School and is a testament to the hard work, talent, and dedication of the cast and crew. “I’m so excited and happy for the students, this is an amazing opportunity for them!”

“The Park City Education Foundation was instrumental in making the production a success, as they helped fund the program,” said Hansen, “With their support, the cast could afford tap shoes, new mics, and new lights. PCEF’s assistance allowed the production to reach its full potential and showcase the students' talents.”
