Park City, Utah – A 7th grader from Ecker Hill Middle School was selected as the first alternate for Utah All-State Junior High Band in the euphonium section.

Nathan Brown auditioned amongst 500 students from over 60 Utah schools to create this year's ensemble and was selected 5th. Students ranged from 6th through 9th grade.

“My brother is a tuba player, and he really encouraged me to try for All-State Band,” said Brown. “Band at Ecker is amazing, especially playing the euphonium. I love the articulations and versatility. ”

According to Zachary Giddings and Mary Morgan, Ecker Hill Middle School band/music teachers, this is the first time a student from EHMS has received this honor. If Brown is selected to fill in, the concert will be at Abravanel Hall on January 21, 2023.

“Nate is so excited about this recognition,” said Giddings. “We are thrilled for him - and for our Ecker Hill Band Program.”
