Park City School District Celebrates Veterans

Schools across Park City School District held Veterans Day celebrations to honor the men and women in their communities who have served in the United States military.

Families and local service members connected to the schools were invited to attend ceremonies at Jeremy Ranch Elementary, Mcpolin Elementary, Parley’s Park Elementary, and Trailside Elementary on November 11, 2022.

Mayor Nann Worel and Sheriff Justin Martinez participated in Parleys Park ceremony, and the school communities are proud to recognize our area veterans.

Park City High School held a ceremony at the front flag honoring veterans, and the school community gathered to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, recognized attendees, and the Student Services Club shared cards.  The PCHS Choir ended the ceremony by singing the Star Spangled Banner.

The celebrations at schools included art displays, students singing patriotic songs, and reading poems they wrote focused on thanking veterans past and present for their service.

Park City has held the Veterans Day celebration for many years, and McPolin’s school’s principal Angie Dufner said that the event is one of the most well-attended events of the year.

"I want to thank the Veterans who participated in our assembly and all of our Veterans who defend our country's freedom and safety, Dufner. “You are heroes every day and we appreciate your service to our country."

Happy Veterans Day, and many thanks to those who serve, have served, or have passed on.
